Super Wine Girl ~ A New York State of Mind
Did you know New York was one of the first US states to grow grapes and produce wine - and is home to the oldest continuously operating winery in the country? The industry has grown and evolved since 1839, and now has over 450 wineries!
NY is home to some of the most diverse terroir in the world. There are eleven main viticultural areas, however the two main wine growing areas are: Finger Lakes - with a cooler continental climate (similar to Ontario); and Long Island - with a more moderate maritime climate (similar to Bordeaux). With over 40+ grape varieties including Riesling, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc, it’s easy to find a wine that suits your palate. Looking to explore? Try an emerging style of sparkling called Pétillant Naturel or an exciting five grape blend rosé!
New York wines display subtlety, depth, and layers of flavour that deliver an intriguing complexity. Whether paired or enjoyed on their own these wines are a great way to expand your passion for quality wines. These wines have earned hundreds of national and international awards for their elegance and subtle nuance.
New York wine is nothing without the passionate pioneers who make it. Winemakers plant roots in New York for its unique scope of opportunities. They share a commitment to the craft and community with a warm collaborative spirit.
